About US

Introduction

Global Cancer Concern India (GCCI) is a registered NGO which occupies a prominent place in the vanguard of cancer care NGOs in the country and has been working assiduously for the last 18 years for the well being of the disadvantaged people afflicted with cancer. It was founded by Late Maj Gen R S Pannu (a Biography of this noble soul was released by Shri Rao Inderjit Singh, Hon’ble Union Minister of State for Defense on 16th May at the IIC, New Delhi.)

Genesis

GCCI seeks to reduce the incidence of cancer through awareness, prevention and early detection. GCCI also financially assists those children to continue with their education who have to drop out due to financial hardship caused by Cancer in the family. It adopts specialized, well-researched and holistic approach for pain management, dwelling on physical, emotional and psychological aspects. Further, it trains doctors, nurses and care givers, provides limited free medicines, consumables, disposables and lends a helping hand to the cancer bereaved families in their rehabilitation, in particular vocational training to family members and children of cancer affected families. GCCI has also been aptly extending financial support to needy sections of society through a well defined process.

GCCI is also running two well equipped Primary Health Care Centers in Delhi and Gurgaon (Haryana) for the poor and needy patients to provide preliminary medical support to general health problems which may lead to tests for early detection of cancer.

Mission

“ To combat cancer at all stages by seeking prevention, early detection and recognizing palliative care management so that poor cancer sufferers can live quality lives with dignity and self esteem as long as possible. This is achieved through a specialized and well researched form of pain management following a holistic approach.”

Organisation

The Programme spectrum of GCCI includes Health Education/ Awareness about Cancer, Free Home Care Services to terminally ill poor cancer patients, Vocational Training to kith and kin of cancer victims, Provision of school fees under Child Sponsorship Programme and Primary Health Care cum Cancer Screening Centers. GCCI is working nationwide through 15 offices with focus on rural areas and urban slums. It partners with several hospitals and cancer oriented societies for implementation and execution of the various cancer care activities. It makes a conscious effort to bring about attitudinal changes towards life, self esteem, dignity amongst the cancer sufferers and their families. It has been accredited by National CSR Hub at Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai and Indian Institute of Corporate Affair (a nodal national agency) setup by Ministry of Corporate Affair, GOI.
